Presentations on DATs at The Union Conference 2024

At The Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024, which will be hosted in Bali, Indonesia this year, there will be multiple sessions related to the use of digital adherence technologies (DATs) as a support tool in the tuberculosis (TB) care cascade.

See here an agenda with the different sessions covering DATs during the Union Conference 2024 in Bali.

Digital Adherence Technologies at the Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024

DAT Task Force main event at the Union Conference 2024

As our main event, we will be hosting a Satellite Session titled:

The evolution of Adherence support through digital tools: insights on engagement, sustainable integration, actionable data and the future with AI“.

Hosted by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV), through this session we will explore four key themes in the evolution of DAT-enabled care:

  • technology engagement by users (person with TB and healthcare workers);
  • integration of remote support tools into existing information systems;
  • optimizing adherence data utilization and effective monitoring and evaluation; and
  • leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enable new strategies for supportive innovations.

Innovations to support adherence to life-saving treatment are vital to ending TB by 2035, ensuring multi-faceted, human-centered support to those living with TB. DATs provide flexible, remote support interventions to empower those living with TB in successfully completing their treatment journeys. Alongside enabling equitable health access, these approaches support preventing resistance to new and existing regimens, including BPaL(M).

In its partnerships across countries, KNCV as the secretariat of the Global DAT Task Force spearheaded efforts in both research-generation and programmatic uptake of DATs. Through this, there has been a gain in depth of insight on supportive measures, hinderances and alternative solutions when introducing DATs to support TB eradication.
